PRODUCT CARE:

WOOD FINISH:

Our pieces are hand-finished to provide a unique look and may vary slightly in measurement and finishing color. Natural imperfections are normal and may include knots, grain, and surface texture and distressed highlights in different areas.

We do not consider minor measurement differences or slight color variations flaws. As timber is a natural product, each piece may be different and vary over time with exposure to light and use.

The nature of our items evokes an aged appearance achieved by hand, color, and size variations that can be found. Each item is made from wood products, elements including the legs are carved by hand using traditional cabinet making techniques and any imperfections are characteristics of the item and should be celebrated.

Each item is unique and no two are exactly alike. Use a lint-free cloth to clean wood furniture on a weekly basis. Do not use abrasives or harsh chemicals on wood furniture.

If your wood finish has an original mat water-based protectant you can re-apply. Dust or wipe clean with a cloth dampened with water once a week. Be sure not to leave water spots on the surface. These water spots will dry and could possibly leave permanent marks.

INSTANT GREY-TEAK FINISH:

Instant Grey is not a stain, it is a chemical process to change teak wood into a beautiful aged grey finish faster than the natural process.  It has been specifically created for teak wood and the chemical reaction will stop after the product is exposed to direct rain.

Instant Grey finish is not the final color, the final color will continue to weather depending on the environment. In dry climates, teak will take several months to weather,  if teak is exposed to infrequent moisture the color will fade slowly with minor dis-colorization and in moist climates where furniture is subjected to regular dew and sunshine the process will weather more quickly.

During the changing process, some products may develop yellowish areas and sometimes black dots will come through on the surface, exactly the same as the natural aging process. The yellowing will slowly disappear and show the final color, a beautiful aged grey finish. When the chemical process is finished approximately  3-4 months afterward, or after reaction with rainwater, the final color will stay the same and no further maintenance is required.

WICKER FINISH:

Our wicker furniture is traditionally constructed from rattan, and the frame constructed of either iron or rattan. Sunlight is the primary enemy of wicker. Always cover wicker furniture if you intend to leave it outside for more than two or three weeks. Regular cleaning is recommended.  To remove dirt and debris, vacuum with a dust-brush attachment or use a dry paintbrush.

METAL FINISH:

Given its handmade and hand-finished nature, variations in the iron and its finish are to be expected and celebrated. Our metal furniture is painted with powder-coated to protect against corrosion and create a uniform and beautiful finish. Powder coating produces less hazardous waste which makes it more sustainable and environmentally-friendly.

LEATHER CARE:

  • To prevent dust accumulation, clean the sofa with a soft cloth that does not fade every week. Wipe it down with a warm, damp cloth periodically (at least twice a year) to remove accumulated oils and dust so the finish does not break down.

  • Avoid scratching the leather with a sharp tool.

  • Avoid grease, pen mark, and ink stain on the sofa.

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight since sunlight will accelerate the aging of leather. Minimize UV damage by placing leather furniture away from bright windows.

  • Dust regularly.

  • In order to extend the life of the sofa, avoid children jumping on the sofa; avoid direct contact of sweaty body and sofa.

  • The sofa should be placed 5-10cm away from the wall, in order to maintain good ventilation. Avoid direct contact with sunlight

  • Due to the elasticity of leather, leather is prone to the loose wrinkled phenomenon when seated on the same site, or long-term force at a certain point. Gently pat the leather can reduce the wrinkled phenomenon.

FABRIC UPHOLSTERY CARE:

  • Vacuum using soft brush attachments and gentle movements.

  • Use a damp cloth to prevent stains from setting in. Let the fabric air-dry before sitting on it, to prevent creases.

  • Keep sofas and chairs out of direct sunlight to avoid fading.

  • Use a dry cloth to remove mud and blot away any excess dirt.

  • Dampen a soft-bristled toothbrush with warm water to gently brush and help loosen dirt.

  • Blot spills with a damp cloth.
